December 5, 2003 – Valador Honored with NASA Group Achievement Award

Herndon, VA, December 5, 2003 — Valador received a NASA Group Achievement Award for its outstanding performance in support of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board. NASA Administrator Sean O’Keefe and Columbia Accident Investigation Board Chairman Admiral Hal Gehman presented the awards to honor the contributions made by the Board support staff. The awards ceremony was held on December 3, 2003 at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Five Valador personnel also received NASA Distinguished Services awards for their inpidual contributions.

Throughout 2003, Valador provided end-to-end support for the Columbia Accident Investigation Board (CAIB). Valador provided technical experts in hypersonic aerothermodynamics, Space Shuttle systems, Space Shuttle history, space policy, orbital dynamics, micrometeoroid and orbital debris (MMOD), sensor reconstruction and analysis, modeling and simulation, trajectory visualization, ceramics analysis, materials analysis, material and structural forensics, and corrosion. Valador also established the CAIB public website, managed all public inputs, established the Congressional liaison office, produced all public meetings and press conferences, and provided technical writing and graphic arts support including the publication of the final CAIB report.
