Web Designer (2)

The Web Designer is part of a team responsible for creating, manipulating, managing and posting technologies of the client. This position is located at Valador Herndon.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs and builds web pages using a variety of graphics software applications, techniques, and tools.
  • Designs and develops user interface features, site animation, and special-effects elements.
  • Contributes to the design group's efforts to enhance the look and feel of the organization's online offerings to include Executive Level Dashboards and knowledge portals.
  • Designs the website to support the organization’s strategies and goals relative to external communications.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in Web design.
  • Knowledge of the following web software development technologies;
  • HTML, JAVA,GIF animation, Visual Basic, and AJAX,
  • Knowledge of DRUPAL, JOOLMLA and WORDPRESS and SharePoint desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer interfacing ability
  • US Citizenship required

Policy Writer

The Policy Writer supports a team in the Office of The Chief Information Officer of NASA updating various policies and procedures which on emerging web technologies, interpreting current and various social media channels and web based communications. This position is located at Valador Herndon.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively work with Web Services Executive and Web Services Board to anticipate and fulfill information needs to ensure policies and procedures are prepared to further enhance the current NASA web strategy.
  • Ensure policies developed will enable the customer to utilize improved web content management, online collaboration, online services, Web 2.0, and social media.
  • Review the existing web service policies and procedures, partner with the Web Services Executive, Web Services Board and other stakeholders to update or create documentation, recommend modifications if needed, and assist in communicating the policy and procedures to the customer.
  • Provide expert analysis and document preparation support for various analytical efforts focused on processes and procedures.
  • Ensure documents produced are in compliance with E-Government Act of 2002, OMB Polices for Federal Agency Websites and other federal requirements.
  • Review, recommend and develop through the use of existing or new web services policies, procedural requirements and handbooks based upon an approved and prioritized listing.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Experience in organizing and translating information into clear written documentation.

Program Analyst

The Program Analyst supports the day-to day office functions of the Deputy Chief Information Office (DCIO) within the NASA Headquarters office.   This  position is located at NASA Headquarters SW, Washington DC.  The Program Analyst will coordinate and interface with NASA mission stakeholders and external organizations on behalf of the CIO Office and communicate with all levels of personnel in order to provide organizational support for the actions and goals of NASA’s OCIO.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of briefings, research, and complex IT OCIO management oversight issues and emerging technology strategies, tracking deliverables, scheduling, information dissemination briefings and write-ups for multiple projects.  Ensure dependencies and critical paths are followed closely.
  • Responsible for creating a DCIO/CIO synopsis of Weekly Division Reports, coordinate and manage Center Weekly reports and their dissemination; collect data and provide highlights for the Monthly Administrators Report
  • Analyze and support special projects as directed
  • Research IT technical and outreach information needed for meetings and activities for the Agency DCIO
  • Assist in the development of speaking engagements/interviews and social media to include providing complex logistical support for speaking engagements, panels and interviews for the CIO’s Office. 
  • Work closely with NASA General Counsel and Communications to ensure policy and procedures are followed throughout OCIO
  • Review and edit materials prepared for social media
  • Liaise with other government agencies, organizations and stakeholders
  • Assist in the development of the Deputy CIO Council, Participatory Exploration, BSMB and ISAC organizations
  • Responsible for Logistics for the DCIO Council (as well as PE, BSMB, ISAC, etc.) to include documents, agendas and action tracking items
  •  Assist with special projects relating to federal initiatives: Open Gov.  Social Media , FedScoop, Federal CIO Council, and ACT-IAC Board, etc.
  • Provide complex logistical support and coordination for conferences and events that are sponsored by the Agency OCIO
  • Acts as liaison to NASA’s IT organizations, NASA’s academia and industry partners, and community constituents/constituencies on issues that may be sensitive in nature.

Position Requirements:

  • 5-10 years experience supporting Senior Executives, delivering senior administrative responsibilities, preferably both the federal and private sectors.  NASA experience a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, (PC and Mac) excellent grammar, editorial and proofreading skills.
  • Experience developing process documentation, procedures, and documentation in support of best business practices.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Experience in organizing and translating information into clear written documentation.
  • Ability to handle strict deadlines and the pressures of working with others on complicated deliverables.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and computer skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, English, Communications or closely related field preferred.  Work experience directly related to job requirements can serve as substitute for undergraduate degree.
  • US Citizenship required.
