Tavernetti to Receive Superior Accomplishment Award
Houston, Texas -- July 16, 2008-- Edward Tavernetti, a Valador Junior Engineer, will receive a Superior Accomplishment Award from NASA for his hard work supporting the Altair Project. Mr. Tavernetti played a key role in implementing a risk based design approach on Altair and made critical contributions to the success of the second lunar design analysis cycle. His analysis helped mitigate the most significant contributors to the loss of crew using the optimum cost/risk trades to reduce those risks.
Under NASA’s Constellation Program, the Altair Project will develop the next generation of lunar landers capable of landing four astronauts on the moon and providing a base for lunar surface exploration by 2020.
