Mabie Wins National FBLA Competition
Herndon, VA, July 14 , 2004 -- Cole Mabie, an Information Technology Intern at Valador, Inc., won the Networking Concepts Competition at the Future Business Leaders of America’s (FBLA) 2004 National Leadership Conference in Denver, Colorado.
Mabie, a junior at Langley High School, earned first place in the competition by completing a comprehensive written exam consisting of questions on general network terminology, equipment for Internet access, problem-solving/troubleshooting, network operating system terminology, OSI model and functionality, and network topologies and connectivity. The first place finisher from each state and territory was represented by one member, making a total of 80 taking the test.
Mabie’s experience as an IT Intern at Valador, Inc. provided a strong foundation for his knowledge of networking technologies.
Prior to competing in the National competition, Mabie finished second in the Northern Virginia Regional Competition and first in the state competition.
FBLA is an organization of students and advisers created to develop the skills required to succeed in the business world. The Virginia FBLA currently has over 17,000 members.
